Ent Federal Credit Union has launched a new service, Email Alerts, to its 160,000 members. Those who use Ent’s online banking service can now keep an eye on their account’s activity with account-related e-mail alerts that are delivered to their in-box or their cellular phone. With Email Alerts, any number of event-triggered alerts can be set up, including when an account reaches (or goes below) a certain balance; when a deposit or loan payment of a set amount is posted; when a withdrawal or loan advance of a set amount is posted; and more. Monitoring significant account events can also help prevent fraud and identity theft.Chad Graves, vice president of Internet technology at Ent and the project leader, said, “If people rely only on monthly mailed statements, suspicious transactions can remain unnoticed for months. With event-triggered e-mail alerts you improve the odds of quickly spotting suspicious activity.”When Ent members were surveyed online about their interest in Email Alerts, 59 percent of the respondents indicated they would use this new service.
