Prairie View Family Care, a family and elder care practice, opened in Falcon Feb. 1, filling the family practice gap.Nurse Practioner Karen Migliaccio, owner of Prairie View, has a background in pediatrics and pediatric intensive care and trauma. ìThe timing (to open Prairie View) was just correct for me,î she said. Migliaccio also has 12 years of urgent care experience.Migliaccio and her husband moved to Peyton in 2005. ìWe’ve been in the Springs since 1976,î she said. ìWe run Echo Valley Ranch just north of Peyton, which was the reason we moved out here.îThe couple has horses, cows, hogs, chickens and turkeys at Echo Valley Ranch. Migliaccio and her husband work the ranch and care for all the animals. Also working 12-hour shifts at The Little Clinic in Colorado Springs, Migliaccio has had a tight schedule. ìSometimes, I’d be doing chores at 11 o’clock at night,î she said. Although she continues to work part time at the Springs clinic, the Falcon clinic will allow her to be closer to home.Prairie View Family Care is located at 7641 McLaughlin Road, next to Blockbuster in the Safeway shopping center. The clinic is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and select Saturdays.
