The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association petitioned the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Oct. 23 to review the Environmental Protection Agencyís Clean Power Plan, according to a Mountain View Electric Association October news release.ìThis rule goes far beyond what the Clean Air Act authorizes the EPA to do and will challenge our nationís electric system,î said Debbie Wing, NRECA director of media relations.Thirty-seven generation and transmission cooperatives from across the country joined NRECA in the legal filings.The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association is the national service organization that represents the nationís more than 900 private,nonprofit, member-owned electric cooperatives, which provide service to 42 million people in 47 states.Mountain View Electric Association Inc., incorporated in 1941, is a nonprofit member-owned electric cooperative serving more than 50,000 members.
