Membership invitationsThe Black Forest Community Club is inviting area families to become members of this community-focused organization.†The club offers two categories of memberships for families: An ìactive membershipî is available for families that reside within the borders of the Black Forest Preservation Plan; an associate membership is open to families outside of the area (associate members enjoy all the privileges of the active members, such as reduced club rental rates. Only the active members can vote.For more information on the boundaries for active membership and applications, visit http://bfcommunityclub.org and go to ìBecome a Member.î Membership applications submitted after Oct. 1 are immediately effective and extend through 2015.It is also time for membership renewals. Active members who have paid their dues by Dec. 31 are eligible†to vote in the annual election for officers and board members, which takes place at the community center on Jan. 8, 2015, at 7 p.m.Membership applications and renewal forms can also be sent via mail to BFCC at P.O. Box 88034, Black Forest, CO, 80908. The membership cost is $15 per family.The community center is located at 12530 Black Forest Road, just north of Shoup Road.All activities take place at the community center unless otherwise indicated.†Check out the following upcoming events: (also see the Community Calendar)Nov.15 at 7 p.m.: Veterans Day program, an observance honoring past and present veteransí service and sacrifices in combat zones, with focus on Fort Carson experience from Iraq and Afghanistan wars.Nov. 29 at 6:30 p.m.: Annual Christmas tree lighting and Santa arrival. Gather around the community Christmas tree on the Log School Park property at the corner of Shoup and Black Forest roads to sing carols and await Santaís arrival. Then, move to the warm community club hall right next door for children to visit with Santa and Mrs. Santa and entertainment by the Pine Creek High School A-cappella chorus. There will be cookies and drink refreshments provided by community club volunteers.Dec. 13 at 6 p.m.: Annual Christmas pot luck dinner. Come and enjoy a joyous Christmas dinner put together by all participants. Enjoy entertainment of seasonal music by the Forest Chorus.
