SOMETHING FISHY’S GOING ON HERE:The state of Colorado, assisted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, has been working since the 1970s to try to restore the Colorado state fish, the greenback cutthroat trout, to rivers in the Rockies. The University of Colorado just did a study to see how they’re doing. The result: DNA analysis shows that the fish being stocked in the rivers all that time isn’t the greenback cutthroat trout, but rather the Colorado River cutthroat trout. (Denver Rocky Mountain News) …In related news, the Colorado Legislature has introduced a bill to name the Colorado River cutthroat trout the state’s official fish.www.thisistrue.comRUMORSMore about land:

  • When asked if Diamond Shamrock was buying his land for 2.5 million dollars, Sam Thomas said, “I’m still waiting for THAT check in the mail.” He added, “If it ever did happen (sells for that much), I will buy drinks at Frankie’s Too for everyone in the community of Falcon – from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.”
  • Rumor has it that Farmers State Bank may consider donating land for a new library in Falcon.
  • Rumor was the strip mall area on McLaughlin Road (housing Prairie Jewel and Jill’s Country CafÈ) had been sold. Latest rumor: deal fell through!
SPELLINGHopefully, they will pay more attention to the actual project than they did to the spelling of Woodmen Road!††
