Monkey Business

Political egos getting old“Don’t you know who I am?” demanded Governor’s Councilor Marilyn P. Devaney when a clerk at a store in Waltham, Mass., wouldn’t accept her check. Devaney pointed out her state car and state ID badge, but the clerk said store policy required a driver’s license for identification. The 69-year-old governor’s aide then allegedly struck the clerk with the item she was trying to buy, a curling iron. She was arrested and charged with felony “assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (curling iron)” and has pleaded not guilty, saying she’ll be exonerated when she gets a chance to tell her side of the story. (Boston Globe) …”It wasn’t hot.”www.thisistrue.comNo school officials left behindIn response to a food fight in the cafeteria at Markham Intermediate School on Staten Island, N.Y., the dean sent a letter to parents saying the entire eighth grade class would be punished for the mess. In the letter, Dean Michael Levy declared the fight in the “caferteria as “unexcecpabll” and the parents must sign the letter or their children would be excluded from “all senior activates” such as the prom. One student noted that “even some of the teachers were laughing” at the dean’s poor spelling and grammar. Principal Emma Della Rocca said the dean didn’t have her permission to send the letter, and she dismissed the collective punishment. Perhaps Levy’s punishment needs to be a summer school of English classes.www.thisistrue.comPig Wings story a little bit of bullThe NFH ran a story June 2 on the new Falcon Grill. Owner Art Wilson said he is the first person in a five-state area to offer pig wings. Colorado Springs was the first to try them, he said. However, we heard from Frankie’s Too co-owner Kathy Patton that they’ve been serving the exact same pig wings at both Frankie’s restaurants for more than a year! Kathy agreed that the pig wings are delicious. “Lip-smacking fall off-the-bone, the best jumbo wings to be found,” she said. Frankie and Kathy celebrated Frankie’s Bar & Grill – Powers Boulevard location – 24th anniversary just recently. They know about all kinds of wings.Anyway, someone’s been fed a lot of bull wings!Budget cuts in the countyThe county is working on what they can cut out from their budget, which they say is stretched to the max. We’d like your ideas. Send them to marylou@newfalconherald.com.
