POLITICAL BEDFELLOWS:Dale Sparks, 55, is mayor of Federal Heights, Colo., a suburb of Denver. Being mayor doesn’t pay well, and his barbecue restaurant wasn’t doing well either, so he took a night job to help make ends meet as a doorman at Bare Essence, a local strip club.He was on duty when police raided the joint, arresting several dancers on various charges, including prostitution. Sparks, who says he always stayed at the door, was questioned but released. “I didn’t know any of this was going on,” he insisted. “I don’t know what goes on back there.” Sparks said he will quit his job, and noted as mayor, “I don’t want a house of ill repute in our city, period.” (Rocky Mountain News)From www.thisistrue.comNote:The NFH gets its Monkey Business material from a reputable online source – a Colorado humorist, Randy Cassingham, who has been featured in the New York Times and applauded by the likes of Jay Leno. But keep in mind that repeating real news and other reports takes time and lots of research. Don’t believe all those e-mails you get. Here’s an example cited from the Stella Awards (ridiculous lawsuits) Web site of a fabricated e-mail.Kathleen Robertson of Austin, Texas, was awarded $780,000 by a jury after breaking her ankle tripping over a toddler who was running amuck inside a furniture store. The owners of the store were understandably surprised at the verdict, considering the misbehaving tyke was Ms. Robertson’s son.Much of your unsolicited e-mails belong under the category: Monkey Business Bunk!RumorsThere are two remaining lots (backing up to Highway 24) at Safeway and plans are under way to build on them – similar to the strip mall type “wings” attached to Safeway now. Possible tenants: Lowe’s.What will happen to the King Soopers contract at Claremont Ranch if the build out is drowning due to water issues? Two more banks looking to expand into Falcon?
