Miami-Yoder student excels at 4-H

Trenton Hajek, a Miami-Yoder School District senior, has been a member of 4-H for nine years. Trenton began creating leather craft projects during his second year of 4-H. The first year he made a cup holder and sold it to his great-uncle. After that, his interest in creating fine leather products grew.Over the years, Trenton has made Bible covers, three pairs of chinks, a pair of chaps, a breast collar and a pair of saddlebags. He sold several of these items at a profit. When he made his first pair of chinks, he won reserve champion at the Lincoln County fair. Trenton has also won numerous first-place awards for his work at the same fair and has taken several of his projects to the state level.Trenton attributes his success to two teachers: Linda James, former Lincoln County leather craft leader, and Ted Evanoika. James and Evanoika donated many hours to 4-H and to students the art of leather craft.
