Woodmen Hills board electionThe Woodmen Hills Metropolitan District will hold an election May 8 to fill two four-year positions on the district’s board.Connie Goodwin, the designated May 8 election official, said three people filed ìSelf-Nomination and Acceptanceî forms and are qualified to run: Bryan Mendiola, Ron Pace and Jan Pizzi. Bryan Long and Jeremy Hammers filed a form but withdrew, Goodwin said.Three of the board members ñ Keith Moulton, Al Kreps and Robert Lovato ñ are serving terms that expire in 2014, said Jan Pizzi, current board president.Marge Vaga, board treasurer, decided not to run for re-election, Pizzi said.The election will be held at Woodmen Hills Community Center West, 11720 Woodmen Hills Drive in Falcon from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.The ìCall for Nominationsî published by Goodwin states that voters registered with the county as permanent mail-in voters will automatically be sent a mail-in ballot.Peyton fire districtThe Peyton Fire Protection District canceled its election scheduled for May.Three four-year board positions were up for election, but only two self-nomination forms were filed. The two forms were filed by two current board members: Leon Gomes (president) and Patrick Palacol (director).Jim Fraas, board vice president, did not submit a self-nomination form, Gomes said, adding that the board will declare a vacancy at its May meeting and appoint someone to fill the board’s fifth seat.According to the district’s Web site, the terms of the board’s remaining two members, William Beary (secretary) and David Stoddard (treasurer), end in May 2014.
