Ellicott property owners fighting Cherokee Metropolitan District’s request for a determination of right to the water under their property will hold a fundraising event in Calhan on Saturday, March 15 from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Paulson Senior Center, 406 Cheyenne St. The center is on Highway 24 but is set back from the highway and is just north of the Glasier Gas Company equipment yard.Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids under 10.The event will feature Marilan Luttrell’s homemade spaghetti, salad and dessert, live music, door prizes with a St. Patrick’s Day theme and a silent auction of donated items.Hydrogeologist Julia Murphy will give a presentation on the importance to all well owners of having water rights determined for their property.The list of attendees includes state representative Marsha Looper (R-Calhan), water rights advocates and surprise guests.All proceeds from the fundraiser will be used to pay litigation expenses.For more information or to donate money or items for the fundraiser, contact Marilan Luttrell at 719-683-5678 or visit www.ColoradoCitizensForPropertyRights.com.
