To properly address animal neglect and abuse issues in the unincorporated areas of El Paso County, Marsha Looper, state representative for District 19, has scheduled a town hall meeting Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Calhan Veterans of Foreign Wars Building on 5th Street in Calhan. Panel members include El Paso County Commissioner Chairman Denise Hisey, El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa, Colorado State Animal Control Director Scott Dutcher, Dr. Wes Metzler of HSPPR, Jerry Renick of SAINT and Looper. The issue of plague relating to prairie dogs will be addressed as well.
