Brothers Don and Ed Klein have made giving back to the community a priority. The two owners of Poblano’s Mexican Restaurant and Sports Bar have organized a food and clothing drive to support Helping Hands Food Pantry, a local charity that helps about 700 local families. Don Klein said the need for supplies is dire. “They really take care of a lot of people,” he said. The Kleins have collected items for the pantry and the Lion’s Club for over a year, but the current drive gives those who lend a hand an extra benefit, too. When someone donates nonperishable food or clothing to the charity, they will be given a raffle ticket. At the end of the drive, the winner of the raffle will receive a $50 gift card. The food and clothing drive will be held at Poblano’s from Nov. 7-Dec. 14. Don said he and his brother support local charities because “they help people right here in our own backyard.”When patrons stop in to donate, they can try Poblano’s new menu, which Don said features lower prices and more diversity. The restaurant now offers Mexican and American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a gluten-free menu.
