David Corder, owner of Perfect Fit Wellness Center in Falcon, has entered a competition that could earn him a place in the fitness video hall of fame – and he’s pumped.Project Breakout is an online video competition in search of the next great fitness expert. Contestants upload their individual fitness videos, and the grand prize winner gets an opportunity to produce a fitness DVD – all costs paid – for retail distribution in North America.Online votes and a panel of fitness industry experts are judging the videos. Online fans will select the top 24 contestants from round No. 1 of the competition, and the experts will select six “wild card” finalists, also from round No. 1. The judging for the first round is under way and ends Aug. 24.The finalists will be required to submit an additional instructional fitness video entry during round No. 2. Voting for round No. 2 begins Sept. 1 and ends Sept. 7. The winner will be announced Sept. 8.Corder’s first-round video is titled, “Perfect Posture,” and his round-two video is “The 12 x 12 Fat Burn Boot Camp.”As he was filming the second video, Corder said the competition is a “cross between ‘American Idol’ and YouTube.” He added that it’s all about “energy and having fun.”However, the potential for fame isn’t bad either. In addition to the DVD production, the “fitness phenom” winner will receive a cash reward of $1,000, not to mention the publicity that could advance his or her career. The second-place winner will receive a $500 gift card to Nike.com, and the third place prize is a $250 gift card to UnderArmour.com.To vote for Corder, visit his Web site at www.perfectfitwc.com and click on the link on his home page, or vote for his videos at www.projectbreakout.com/fitness.
