Local artist opens new gallery

Cassandra Sharon is a fifth-generation Colorado native from a rural farming and ranching family in Southern Colorado. For 20 years, Sharon has incorporated her background into her career as a professional artist and sculptor. She has shown in galleries throughout the United States.Dancing Wolf Gallery in Elbert is the new site for Sharonís ìA Cowgirlsí Heartî gallery featuring Sharonís fine art sculpture, along with two other artists to be announced. She also carries a selection of made-in-Colorado/USA gifts, western clothing, handbags, and fine art and crafts.Sharon currently owns Painted Pony Inc.; both her studio and home are in the Bijou Basin northeast of Falcon.Horses, cattle and burros are just a few of her favorite subjects; she refers to her work as ìwhimsical and stylized.îìWith my background in†rural Colorado farms and ranches, Iíve been asked why I chose the ìwhimsyî vs. stark realism.†I have to attribute my style to being immersed as a child in the well-known C.S. Lewis ìChronicles of Narnia. ìI still read and reread them, and love his writings for adults as well.îSee the galleryís ad on Page 8 of the print version of The New Falcon Herald for details and information on the Feb. 14 shopping event.
