Falcon Liquor Outlet is a recent addition to the Meridian Crossing business development. The store opened November 2009.Manager Joe Pahk said he has tweaked the inventory at the store to satisfy all tastes. “We’ve been catering business based on what the customer wants,” he said. With requests from locals and beer and wine connoisseurs, Pahk aims to supply what customers thirst for. This often includes hard-to-find liquor. “If you can’t find it, we have a request list,” Pahk said. “We take requests every day. We love taking requests.”He said his customers come in for the deep inventory and discounts. Many customers are from Falcon and Black Forest but also communities farther east, such as Calhan and Elbert.Pahk said because many of his customers drive to Falcon only occasionally to stock up on supplies, as a convenience he gives a discount for bulk purchases. Other discounts include the availability of a club card for a 5 percent discount; and, on Wednesdays, a 10 percent discount for wine and liquor is given to the military, men and women in uniform (firefighters, EMTs, police) and seniors. The store also hosts a “discount weekend” for club members for a 15 percent discount on wine and liquor. The owner, Sue Emerson, who is also Pahk’s mother, chose the 11,000 square-foot space for Falcon Liquor Outlet because of the local growth, Pahk said. Two similar liquor outlets are located in Colorado Springs, but Pahk said each store is individually owned and operated.Emerson has been in the liquor business for more than 20 years.Pahk said it is important to be a positive influence within the community. “We want to encourage people to drink responsibly,” he said. Strict rules are enforced when checking identification cards, and anyone who appears to be intoxicated will not be allowed to make a purchase.”We want to help the community,” Pahk said.
