The Falcon Incorporation Committee is still in the process of acquiring signatures for a petition that could allow the community to vote on the issue of incorporating Falcon.About 100 people have signed the petition, and a total of 150 signatures are needed, said Tom Cline, committee chairperson. The petition must be submitted to the district court by April. Those who sign the petition must be El Paso County registered voters, as well as property owners and residents within the proposed town boundary, which includes 12 square miles.Cline said signing the petition only indicates that a vote on the incorporation issue is sought, not that a person does or does not want to incorporate Falcon.”Once there is a vote to even see if people want a town then that’s when the process really starts,” Cline said. “There is no sense in creating a budget, charter and those types of things if it is decided not to have a town.”Cline said until a district court judge rules on the petition, no public meetings would take place. “Having meetings before we even know if we can move forward would be putting the cart before the horse.”For more information about the Falcon Incorporation Committee, contact Tom Cline at 683-5755 or log on to www.falconco.org.
