Horse camps in Black Forest

Two Sessions:June 8 – 12 or July 20-249 a.m. – 1 p.m.Ages 9 -12$100 per studentCALLING ALL KIDS WHO LOVE HORSES!This camp is for kids who love these wonderful creatures! We will learn how to properly care for, feed, exercise and groom horses. Students will learn the cost and responsibility of owning their own horse. They will learn (and practice on real horses!) basic horse anatomy, breeds, markings and diseases. Students will understand the instincts of horses, including herd behavior through Parelli Natural Horsemanship. Students will have opportunities to work with rescue horses, along with being introduced to rescue organizations (Front Range Equine Rescue) and community service (Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center) Horse literature, observation, sketching, poetry and writing will be integrated into our time together.Students will meet and observe some of the following: an equine veterinarian, a farrier, an equine dentist, an equine massage therapist, and see demonstrations of dressage, English jumping and Western Pleasure riders. Campers will get lots of hands-on experience with horses. Students will learn the cost and responsibility of owning their own horse. They will learn anatomy, systems of the horse, breeds, markings and diseases. Students will learn how to properly care for, feed, exercise and groom horses. Students will understand the instincts of horses, including herd behavior while working with rescue horses. Students will be introduced to many rescue horses and Front Range Equine Rescue Organization. Campers will meet and work with equine specialists such as an equine veterinarian, a farrier, an equine dentist, an equine trainer and equine massage therapist.
