The Colorado Springs Florence Nightingale committee, a nonprofit organization that supports nursing excellence, is asking for nominations for the 21st “Nightingale Awards.”The winners will be honored at an awards ceremony on March 10 at the Sheraton Hotel. Mark Cloer, state representative, is the featured speaker.The Nightingale Awards were founded in 1985 to honor nurses who exemplify the philosophy and practice of Florence Nightingale, a 19th century nursing pioneer. A nominee must be a registered nurse practicing in Colorado or a registered nurse retired from practice in Colorado. Past award winners are not eligible again. The top honorees from Colorado Springs will attend a statewide banquet dinner in Denver on May 6.A percentage of funds raised from the Springs event will go toward nursing local nursing students.For more information, nomination applications or reservations for local event, visit www.cosnightingale.org.
