Holistic health and fitness center finds home in Falcon

David Corder believes the key to a better life is taking care of one’s whole self – physical, mental and spiritual. And he is ready to share that philosophy and his expertise with others.Perfect Fit Wellness Center, a center that encompasses physical, mental and spiritual health, is now open in the Falcon area, and Corder is accepting new clients. Corder, known to many in Falcon as a member of the D & L Sanitation family, owns and operates the center. And he has a myriad of athletic and holistic experiences under his belt. He is a certified personal trainer with a combined degree in personal fitness, personal training and basic nutrition.Corder also is a certified scuba diver and a skydiver; he spent two years with the Pittsburgh Pirates and many years dancing and performing on stage. He is a piano, voice and acting teacher, and, in his spare time Corder enjoys skiing, snowboarding and mountain and road biking.Wellness lies in making the correct choices every day, from what we eat and how we exercise to wearing a seatbelt when we drive, Corder said. “Ninety percent of our problems we create ourselves,” he said. “By teaching people to make better choices, we improve their wellness.”The center, currently open in what Corder references as “Phase I”, includes a consultation room, two rooms with fitness equipment, a meditation/massage room and a locker/shower room. Corder has hired three other personal trainers, two massage therapists and a Reiki therapist. Reiki therapy, which includes the emotional and spiritual aspects of health, can be effective in weight loss and smoking cessation.Corder said the center serves people of all ages and fitness levels or “anybody who wants to better their life.” Those recovering from illness, accidents or surgery; people fighting obesity; or people who simply want to increase their strength, endurance or ability can benefit from the center’s services.Corder also has launched an online personal training service. Corder or another personal trainer will customize an exercise and nutrition program for the client. The client then logs on to the Perfect Fit Web site, which offers a calendar to keep track of the workout days and demonstrations of individual exercises. The Web site allows the client to record his workout and make comments, which are then sent to the personal trainer, who monitors the client’s progress and adjusts the program as necessary.Corder plans to eventually partner with Warner Health Care Systems, a Colorado Springs company that manages a network of doctors and pharmacies. That partnership will bring to the Perfect Fit Wellness Center a doctor of osteopathy, a psychiatrist, a dietician and other medical professionals. The center will house diagnostic equipment as well as massage and exercise equipment. There will be a daycare center onsite, and the facilities will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Perfect Fit Wellness Center is located at 9480 Curtis Road.
