Opening day for High Plains Little League is April 18. The league will hold their 2009 baseball/softball registration Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Patriot Learning Center in Falcon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Online registration is also available until Feb. 27 on the High Plains Little League Web site, www.eteamz.com/HighPlainsLittleLeague. Registration requires proof of residency as well as a birth certificate.Those who live east of Marksheffel Road probably reside within the High Plains Little League boundaries. Banning Lewis Ranch is one of the newest communities to join High Plains. More than 350 boys and girls age 5 to 14 participate in the league. T-ball is offered for youth age 5 to 6, midget machine pitch for youth 7 to 8, rookie baseball for age 9 to 10, majors for 11 to 12 and juniors 13 to14. Also offered is a softball program for girls age 9 to 14.This year, High Plains Little League has paid umpires and offers High Plains day at the Sky Sox, machine pitch, coaching clinics and players’ seminars.
