Grace Community Church has received the Sam and Helen Walton Award for new church development in the amount of $50,000. The award fund was established by Sam and Helen Walton in 1991 with a $6 million gift to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Foundation. Three million dollars was earmarked to encourage new church development.The money is awarded to help relieve the burden of capital costs in newly formed congregations.”We are humbled and excited to have been one of only two congregations chosen to receive this award,” Reverend Pat Jeffery said.Criteria for the award include numerical growth in active worship, discipleship, education and outreach programs, strength of financial stewardship and peacemaking and social change. The funds will be applied to construction costs of GCC’s new building on Stapleton Road in Falcon.
