Amy Jo Fields, the 2005 Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo “Girl of the West,” and Amanda Yopp, the 2005 Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo Aide to Girl of the West, will make more than 100 appearances during the summer promoting the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo. The annual event is scheduled July 13 through July 17 at the Norris-Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs.Amy Jo Fields is the 21-year-old daughter of Dan and Tammy Fields of Falcon. Amy is a senior majoring in civil engineering at Colorado State University. She also is a member of the Society of Women Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and has been named on the National Dean’s List.Amy Jo graduated from Falcon High School in 2001. As the 2003 El Paso County fair queen, she served as a spokesperson and mentor for the 4-H program in which she participated for seven years, earning top honors for her Grand and Reserve Champion Market Lamb. Amy Jo was a member of the Pikes Peak Rangerettes for four years.When she’s not promoting the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo this summer, Amy will be working at J.R. Engineering as an intern. Amy Jo also enjoys riding her 23-year-old Quarter Horse, Dalton.Amanda Yopp is the 20-year-old daughter of Dan and Peggy Yopp of Elbert. She is majoring in business administration at Chadron State College in Chadron, Neb. Amanda is a member of the college’s rodeo team and competes in barrel racing and goat tying.She is a 2003 graduate of Falcon High School. Amanda is an avid horsewoman and was a member of the Kit Carson Riding Club 4-H Club for eight years, where she earned Reserve High Point Gymkhana at the El Paso County Fair and All Around Reserve Champion at the Colorado State Fair. She also was a member of the Pikes Peak Rangerettes for four years.In addition to her duties marketing the Pikes Peak or Bust event, Amanda will work at the ProCom division of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
