Getting to know School District 49

El Paso County Colorado School District 49 is large and diverse, covering 133 square-miles in northeast Colorado Springs and Falcon. In January 2024, The Gazette reported that D 49 was one of the few districts in the county that experienced growth from school year 2022-2023 to 2023-2024, maintaining its spot as the second largest district in the county, with just under 26,000 students enrolled. The largest district in El Paso County is School District 20, with about 26,600 students.

The school district has 32 schools; 10 are charter schools. The district is divided into four zones:

  1. The Falcon Zone is located in the most eastern section of the district. Its schools include Falcon High School, Falcon Middle School, Falcon Elementary School of Technology, Woodmen Hills Elementary, Meridian Ranch Elementary and Bennett Ranch Elementary.
  2. The Power Zone, in the northwest section of the district, includes six schools: Vista Ridge High School, Skyview Middle School, Inspiration View Elementary School, Ridgeview Elementary School, ALLIES and Odyssey Elementary School.
  3. The Sand Creek Zone in the southwest section of the district includes Evans Elementary, Horizon Middle School, Remington Elementary, Sand Creek High School, Springs Ranch Elementary and Stetson Elementary.
  4. The iConnect Zone includes home schools, alternative education and tuition-free charter schools.
