Front Range Equine Rescue summer events

The following clinics are fundraisers for Front Range Equine Rescue:”Building Confidence with Your Horse” (May 21-22, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 6995 Horseshoe Rd., Colorado Springs) Certified John Lyons instructor, Debbie Bibb, will teach the basics of groundwork for your horse before getting into the saddle. These techniques will then be applied under saddle.”General Horsemanship Clinic” with Julie Goodnight (June 18-19, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Prairie Springs Farm, 7445 Templeton Gap Rd., Colorado Springs) Learn balance, rhythm, and communication with your horse in this two-day clinic.”Gaining Your Horse’s Respect: Being the Herd Leader” (Aug. 28, Prairie Springs Farm indoor arena, 7445 Templeton Gap, Colorado Springs, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) – 30-minute lecture on horse behavior followed by a demonstration with clinicians Gerrie and Jeff Barnes who will be demonstrating with two of their horses. After lunch, experience hands-on learning with the Barnes’ horses.”De-Spooking Your Horse” (May 14, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m., 6995 Horseshoe Rd, Colorado Springs) Instructor Jessee Province will teach how to help your horse become braver and calmer with spooky objects. The morning session will be de-spooking on the ground. The afternoon session will apply the techniques from the saddle.”Ground Games” with instructor Jessee Province (June 5 and June 12, noon to 4 p.m., 6995 Horseshoe Rd., Colorado Springs) This two-part clinic will teach you to communicate with your horse in a way the horse understands.”Beginning Riding” with instructor Jessee Province (July 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 6995 Horseshoe Rd., Colorado Springs) This clinic will explain the importance of ground games in relation to riding, knowing when it’s right to get on and off, reading your horse, building confidence and more. Prerequisite: Ground Games clinic.”Trail Riding” with instructor Jessee Province (July 24, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 6995 Horseshoe Road and Section 16) Clinic will teach how to prepare your horse for trail riding.
