According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, residents have called the sheriff asking about a company that is distributing flyers to residences throughout the county stating there is a sex offender living in their neighborhood. The company charges a fee to provide the residents with details about the sex offender. The sheriff’s office issues a news release stating the company “appears to be legitimate.” However, residents can obtain the same information at no cost by visiting the physical office at 101 W. Costilla St. in downtown Colorado Springs or by visiting the sheriff’s Web site: http://shr2.elpasoco.com/sexoffenders/.The company referenced above also has a Web site: www.neighborhoodredalert.com.
