The purpose of creating this newspaper 10 years ago was to initiate a sense of community in what was the fastest growing community in Colorado, and to produce a newspaper that the community found useful and informative. Something that helps you feel like you know a little more about where you live! As I reflect on 10 years as the publisher of The New Falcon Herald, what I appreciate most is two things that have remained constant: our readers and our advertisers. Our readers have taken ownership of the paper, and that makes us thankful and proud. This is evident by the many story ideas and news tips we receive each month from our readers. Our advertisers are also crucial. A free newspaper relies on its advertisers for their support. Without our advertisers, simply put, the community wouldn’t have a paper. It’s a relationship that we cherish. In this day when news and information is seemingly everywhere, thereís still something about reading through a local newspaper that makes one feel a part of the community. Just as many of us pick up the local newspaper when on vacation, a visitor passing through Falcon may feel a connection simply by picking up a copy of The New Falcon Herald and discovering the issues facing this town. Knowing whatís going on provides a sense of community and comfort. We do our best to let our readers know whatís going on as clearly and accurately as we can. For the last 10 years that’s been our source of pride! So, once again, thank you readers and advertisers for 10 great years!I hope your holidays are happy and somewhat stress free ñ and weíll see you in January with our annual health and wellness-focused issue.Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah! – MichelleCongratulations, Michelle10 years and still strongI left that first writersí meeting (just two writers then) with a job and a story assignment that ended up on the front page.†I am so grateful to Michelle for taking a chance on me all those years ago.
