Keeping up with everything that is going on in booming Falcon is a challenge. Thank the stars we have John, the Windshield Guy, who has become friends with many of the town folk. One of the locals (Rich) described John as the “person who knows everything about Falcon.”We have been trying to get John to write our rumor column, but he says it’s not his thing. However, he’s always the first on the scene.John was the first to tell us about the Ranchland News editorial that referenced the NFH as a “tabloid” newspaper. The editorial was written by someone who is in opposition (and seemingly has an axe to grind) to a Falcon incorporation. The author apparently doesn’t like the NFH, which he also referred to as an “undistributed paper found in a local food store in Falcon” (or something ridiculous like that). We beg your pardon, mister, we direct mail our newspaper as well as distribute it in 15 stores around town. That adds up to a circulation of more than 4,700.Anyway, John was livid about the tabloid reference. Did we mention that John is a close relative of one of the publishers? With regard to the tabloid reference, we didn’t get as riled as John; we actually thought it was funny. We did think about renaming the NFH “Star Sentinel” or the “Venus and Mars Review.”If we renamed the newspaper, we would have an avenue to include our pictures of the space ship landings and launches that happen on a regular basis at Meadow Lake Airport. The last picture we have is one of Princess Diana and Elvis boarding the space ship a couple weeks ago. Oh well, we probably should stick to the local news and avoid the sensationalism of a space ship take off or a two-headed cow or a half-sheep/half-human county official. We should probably stick to what we know best, and what’s that, you ask? As publishers, we answer phones, manage accounts, design, write and re-write and we aren’t always available in the community. Plus, our “day” jobs keep us from roaming the streets of Falcon on a regular basis. Our writers and sales people have become our voice, helping us to interact with the businesses and the community and keeping us abreast of what’s happening. And then we have John. It’s important to establish relationships in our community. While the owner/publishers are busy behind the scenes, we are eternally grateful for John, our sales people and our writers. And you, our readers. Keep those e-mails coming and those suggestions flowing. We are researching a move to a bi-monthly newspaper, so we’ll keep you informed. If you have comments, please send to ml@jazzwireless.net.Happy May! Happy Mother’s Day!Michelle & MarylouCORRECTION FROM LAST MONTH: Please note the correct times of service at Grace Community Church – 7376 McLaughlin Rd. – 8:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.Extra: Pastor Pat Jeffries also informed the NFH that Grace Community Church has closed on 35 acres on Stapleton Road, the future site of the new church.
