The El Paso County Board of County Commissioner approved the Department of Transportation’s 2006 list of roads for paving and graveling.Several of the roads on the paved list, such as Lake Meadow Drive, were part of the resident participation program. Local residents pitched in funds from their own pockets to have their roads chip sealed, and now DOT will continue improving the roads with a three-inch asphalt overlay. Other roads, such as Hodgen Road and Woodmoor Drive, are also on the list for repair, overlays or to have the chips sealed.51.5 miles of roads, such as Rush, Book, and Edison roads, will be graveled. Priority roads were evaluated by identifying safety issues, road conditions, the average daily traffic, the number of customer service requests and alternate routes.El Paso County currently maintains over 903 miles of paved road and 1,077 miles of gravel road.
