Caring for someone with Alzheimerís disease is a specialty requiring specific skills and an attitude that contributes to the well being of both the caregiver and the person with the disease. The Alzheimerís Association is sponsoring a workshop to help caregivers develop a sense of control and mastery within their role. Most people involved in caregiving do it out of family love and obligation but have no training in how to effectively handle the challenges of this enormous responsibility. Participants who attend the program, ìSavvy Caregiving,î will receive a caregiver manual and CD-ROM covering the critical tasks of taking care of people with dementia. The program is scheduled Friday, Feb. 23, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Cowboy Church of Peyton. Please R.S.V.P to the Alzheimerís Association at 719-266-8773.
