Often with the hustle and bustle of holiday preparations, taking time to enjoy some simple family time is challenging. A great place to slow down and experience the Christmas spirit is at Forest Bend Farm in Black Forest.
Forest Bend Farm was started in 2019 by two families, Patrick and Elisa Clark, who live on the property, and Matthew and Amber Tanner, who live down the street from Forest Bend.
“We wanted a Christmas-themed event as lovable as the autumn pumpkin patches, with a specific focus on Christ,” Matthew Tanner said. “Families come to celebrate the Christmas season in a peaceful environment with fun things to do for the kids, like drinking hot cocoa on a hayride and watching the kids participate in a nativity play.”
He said their annual Christmas event is about a six-month endeavor for the two families. “We start adding new things during the summer and preparing for the upcoming season, and then we finally finish putting away decorations in late January,” Tanner said. “We couldn’t do this without the help of so many in our community, and are so thankful for everyone who participates.”
Forest Bend Farm offers an amazing experience for all ages. From hayrides and nativity plays to alpacas and marshmallow roasts, there is something for everyone.
Other activities include tire swings, scavenger hunts, a Christmas in Colorado maze, roasting marshmallows, Tanner said. New this year is a model train display of a winter mountain village and a gaga ball game for the big kids.
Of course, there is hot cocoa, coffee and cider — and a heated tent.
Create crafts and enjoy outdoor games in the Games Corral. Crafts are for sale as well.
There are picture-perfect spots: A fully decorated 20-foot Blue Spruce tree, Grandma’s Basement photo area, and a mountain house A-frame ticket booth.
Enjoy the activities and festive atmosphere this season at Forest Bend Farm. “We would love to celebrate this Christmas season with you,” Tanner said.
The season at Forest Bend Farm opened Nov. 29 and runs through Dec. 30.
