Falcon High School Two months into the high school football season, things are starting to take shape. After starting the season at a disappointing 1-3 record, the Falcons squared off against Ponderosa from Parker, Colorado. This game is never even close as the Falcons took the win 17-3.They then traveled to Sand Creek High School, and this game was also never even close as the Falcons took the lead 25-0 in the first quarter. Sand Creek was never able to recover as the Falcons came out victorious by a final score of 45-0. The Falcons stiff defense were able to hold star Scorpion running back Daniel Quin to only 40 yards on 14 carries. Meanwhile, Falconís quarterback Ty Murphy threw three touchdowns and 155 yards through the air and a161-yard touchdown on the ground.Falcon was able to carry the momentum over to the next week, when they dominated Widefield 49-0 for their second consecutive 40-plus point win. Their streak came to an end when the Falcons played the Montrose Indians, losing 31-21.Vista Ridge High SchoolAfter a perfect start, Vista Ridge has since come back to Earth. On Sept. 26, they played the No. 1 team in the state, Pine Creek. The Wolves were simply outclassed, as they lost the game 41-7. The next week, Vista played the No. 4 team in Colorado 4A ó Montrose. The Wolves were able to hang with the Indians in this game, but it was not enough. Vista Ridge lost 31-30.The next Friday, Vista got back on track, beating Mesa Ridge 54-12. And they also beat Widefield the next week 42-8, giving them a record of 6-2 and putting them eighth in the state and in good position for the playoffs.With only two more games left in the regular season, the Colorado 4A playoff picture is starting to take shape.Sand Creek High SchoolSand Creek High School had a disappointing month going 0-4 from Sept. 26 to Oct. 17. Their game on Sept. 26 against the 0-4 Palmer High School team was close throughout. At the end of four quarters of Smash Mouth football, the game was tied at 28. When Palmer got the ball in the extra quarter, they capitalized on it and scored a touchdown for the win, 35-28. Two weeks later, the Scorpions played a talented Montrose team in Montrose. The game was a blowout as Sand Creek lost by an astounding 46 points. The next week, they played 1-6 Mesa Ridge team and were still not able to put it together as Sand Creek dropped their fourth straight by a score of 31-6.
