The Falcon High School Coed Cheer team, led by coach Mary Ann Wilson, has had a successful year, with routines that wowed audiences and garnered numerous awards. There are 25 total on the cheer team: six of them males; 19 females and five alternates. During the months of October and November, Falcon competed in five spirit competitions, from Castle Rock to Pueblo.†They finished first place in four and second place in one. They were also crowned Nov. 4, 2015, for the second year in a row, as the Pikes Peak Athletic Conference Coed champions.†They were also awarded three bids for nationals from the Universal Cheer Association, the United Spirit Association and the Ohio Americheer Nationals.The state competition in the 4A and 5A coed division was held in December at the Denver Coliseum, with 37 coed teams from Colorado participating. The Falcon cheer team finished third in 4A.The Falcon Coed Cheer team will be attending the Americheer International Spirit Competition in Orlando, Florida, Feb. 26 and Feb. 17. The competition will take place at Disney World at the ESPN Sports Center.†The cost to go to Disney World to compete is about $900 per athlete. The team is in the process of fundraising for the event.
