FFPD sees personnel changes

Goodbye, Miss VickyBoard President Mike Collins, along with the rest of the board, presented Falcon Fire Protection Districtís administrative assistant, Vicky Chevalier, with a farewell award for her hard work and dedication to the department.Chevalier, who started with the FFPD in 2004, is leaving the department at the end of November to move to Phoenix. Her replacement, Gretchen Tetzzlaff, is already in training with Chevalier to facilitate a seamless transition.ìShe will be missed dearly. Everyone went to Vicky with their issues, both business-related and personal,î said Chief Trent Harwig in an e-mail to The New Falcon Herald. Harwig said the FFPD personnel roster jokingly listed Chevalier as a ìtherapistî in addition to her official job title, with a certification in ìlife.îChevalier moved to Falcon from New York City to marry her husband. ìI had no family here,î she said. ì(The FFPD) just adopted me. They have all been super, super great to me. I just love them and I’m going to miss them.î Chevalier said the move was prompted by her husband’s job transfer. ìI had no plans of leaving the fire department until the paramedics had to carry me out,î she said. ìThis is the best job I’ve ever had.îTetzzlaff, who moved to Falcon in July, said, ìIt’s going good so far. It’s refreshing, actually compared to the stress of my other job. I like it.îNew firefightersOn Oct. 14, the FFPD’s Fire Academy handed out badges to six new volunteer members: Shanna Kohr, Joe Cosgrove, Trace Reeves, Steven Blickenstaff, Eric Markowski and Kent Smith.According to Harwigís e-mail: ìAll six have the minimum certifications of State Firefighter One; State Hazardous Materials Operation Level; Wildland Firefighting S130/190; National Incident Management Training (NIMS) 700; Colorado State Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B) and all have passed a national entry level physical agility test known as CPAT.îThe next fire academy is scheduled for next spring.
