FFPD June board meeting

The Falcon Fire Protection District held its regular monthly board meeting June 15. All board members were present.Treasurerís reportFire Chief Trent Harwig reported that the fiscal year was 42 percent complete as of May 31. The district has received 57 percent of its anticipated revenue. General fund expenses were at 27 percent, while the operations category was at 36 percent. Harwig said, ìWeíre in really good shape for this time of year.îHarwig noted that the district has closed on the loan for the new fire station. He said closing costs were just under $16,000, and the first draw for Hammers Construction Inc. was $26,500.Incident statisticsThe district responded to 177 calls for service during the month of May — 23 more than May 2015. The year-to-date total as of May 31 was 874, reflecting a 14.9 percent increase in call volume over the same period last year.Highway 24/Old MeridianDirector Tom Kerby reported that budget issues have delayed the modifications to the Highway 24/Old Meridian Road intersection.Station 4Harwig said the district will prepay for metal studs to beat a projected 9 percent per month increase in costs over the next four months.2002 YukonHarwig said the new Chevrolet Tahoe SUV for the chief has arrived. It replaces the 2002 Yukon, which is the oldest vehicle in the fleet, with171,000 miles. The board voted to declare the 2002 Yukon as excess equipment intended for sale to a neighboring fire department for $4,000. The Ellicott Fire Protection District has expressed interest in purchasing it.Bells Across AmericaFalcon fire chaplains Mike Collins and Dick Glasgow are the co-chairs for this yearís Bells Across America event. Bells will ring at noon Oct. 8 as a tribute to fallen firefighters. The local event will be held at St. Dominicís in Security, Colorado.
