Nominations are being sought for three positions on the Falcon Fire Protection District Board of Directors. Two four-year terms and one two-year term are up for consideration in the May 4, 2010, election.Among its responsibilities, the board manages controls and supervises all business and affairs of the district as defined in the Special District Act. The board does this directly or through the fire chief or other district members or third-party providers. This includes all construction, installation, operation and maintenance of district improvements. A full list of the board’s responsibilities is available in the district’s by-laws, which are available on the district’s Web site at www.falconfirepd.org.All registered voters who live within the FFPD are eligible to serve on the board of directors, except current career firefighters who are employees of the district. Anyone interested in running for an open seat must submit a self-nomination and acceptance form to Fire Chief Trent Harwig by Feb. 26, 2010.The district also is interested in identifying a designated election official for the May election. The DEO is responsible for coordinating the election, which includes meeting all statutory deadlines, distributing election notices, overseeing the printing of ballots, supervising mail-in ballots and certifying all ballots during the election.
