El Paso Countyís 15th annual Feed the Children event is fast approaching, and donations are still needed.†The Feed the Children event, Dec. 12, is in partnership with the El Paso County Department of Human Services, Springs Church, Mercy Springs, Discover Goodwill, Home Depot, the Feed the Children Organization based in Oklahoma and a long list of other donors and volunteers.Families qualified for help through the El Paso County Department of Human Services are invited to enjoy a day of celebration, and take home food, toys, books and toiletries.†Last year, about 4,300 families participated. In October, more than 70,000 people in El Paso County were qualified to receive food assistance.Monetary donations are needed to cover the costs of supplies and materials.† New toys are needed for children, from infants through age 12, as well as new or gently used books.†Gift cards in $10 increments will be given to teenagers.† Cash contributions are used to purchase food, toys, activities and refreshments for participants.
