Falcons’ fundraiser goes gold

For their fundraiser this year – Aug. 2 through Aug. 13 – Falcon High School football players are offering $20 gold cards that provide year-long discounts at various restaurants.”If used properly, you will regain your $20 in no time, said Trevor Hudson, coach. “The goal is to sell over 2,000 cards. We still have things we would like to take care of one mountain at a time.”The cards support the purchase of about $20,000 worth of equipment, including helmets and shoulders pads.”Last year, concussions across the country were a big deal. There is no helmet that will prevent concussions,” Hudson said. “The main reason is to put the boys in the top-of-the-line equipment. Basically, we need to get the items we need to become a competitive football program. We are trying to beat the ground early and be the fire. My biggest issue is making sure the players are safe.”Various athletic teams at the high school will hold gold card fundraisers throughout the school year.”I have purchased a gold card. I buy one every year,” said Steve Oberg, assistant principal and interim athletic director. “We will have more fundraisers in a month once practices start.”Pre-order a gold card by sending your name and number to coachtrevorhudson@gmail.com.
