Winning the state championship in November in Broomfield, Colo., topped off an undefeated season for Falcon’s White Lightning youth football team. The team of 11- and 12-year-olds, based at District 49’s Meridian Ranch Elementary, beat the Broomfield Blitz 18 to 6 to win the Flatirons Football Tournament and state championship. Head coach Mike Patterson attributed their win to discipline, hard work and sacrifice by everyone, including the parents. The team left last week to compete in the national championship in Las Vegas.
