Melanie Dolifka, second-grade teacher at Falcon Elementary School, has been named a finalist for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The prestigious award is considered one of the highest national honors for teachers of mathematics and science. Teachers chosen for the award receive $10,000. Dolifka is one of only two state-level mathematics finalists.A national review team in Washington D.C. will make the final decision in early 2013.
