FALCON SENIOR SERVICES NEWS

Beverly Kelty is organizing card players for games such as bridge, hearts and spades. The games will be played at Espresso at Stratfords when space and time is available. Contact Beverly at 495-8437 to participate.The next potluck luncheon is June 13 at Falcon Baptist Church, 11095 Eggar Road at 11 a.m. Lasagna is the main dish, along with tossed salad and garlic bread. Bring a side dish, salad or dessert. Drinks and table service are provided. Dads will be honored with special door prize drawings. Ken Sanders, director of the Center on Fathering, will be the guest speaker.The FSS committee is grateful to the area churches and now the coffee house for allowing our programs to be held in their facilities, but we continue to search for a permanent home for senior services. Mike Decker, director of the Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging spoke to the committee at the May meeting. Some funding could be made available to help support a Falcon/Eastern El Paso County senior center in Falcon if a suitable building could be found. The committee welcomes input and ideas from anyone willing to help with this effort. Contact Beverly Ordon at 495-2994.Falcon seniors sponsor safe driving programFalcon Senior Services will sponsor an AARP Safe Driving School for area residents 50 years and older July 18 and July 19 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Falcon Fire Station at Meridian and Highway 24. The cost is $10 per person payable in cash or by check to AARP. Discounts in automobile insurance rates can be made available through individual insurance carriers upon completion of the program. For further information and to sign up for the school, call Marion 495-2797or Gabrielle at 683-9661.Senior exercise programA low-impact strength and flexibility exercise program is offered on Mondays and Fridays at Grace Community Church from 11 a.m. to noon. The sessions are led by Nancy Bishop and Suzie Simpson. Exercise bands are provided. For more information, contact Nancy at 886-4334.AND NOW: Beginning June 6, light aerobic exercises will be offered on Wednesdays from 10:30 to noon at Falcon Baptist Church, with the exception of the second Wednesday of the month, which is set aside for the luncheons. Dolores Kirby will be leading the program and can be contacted at 683-4755.There is no charge for either exercise program.
