Falcon/Peyton planning workshop summary

The Falcon/Peyton Small Area Master Plan Committee invited the public to share their ideas on the future design of Falcon and Peyton at a workshop held in August. About 40 people attended the workshop.A summary of the public’s input follows:ï Increased police protectionï Community amenities discussed included a post office and recreational amenities – bowling, arcade, hiking trails, equine access, town center, movie theatresï Economic development: primary employers, more progress in economic development – is there a need for an economic development corp.?ï Housing: diversity and variety, predictable growth, meeting all needsï Resource management to include visual resources, preserving rural character, adding flowerbeds or hanging baskets in town, adding charm to the area; preserve natural areas like Calhan Paint Mines, open prairie, Jimmy Camp Creek area; enhance historical features; thoughtful water resourcesï It was suggested that water resources should be a separate priority and considered a No. 1 issue. The planning committee must look at the availability of water beyond the next 20 to 40 years.ï Alternative energy sources must be discussed – promote solar/wind etc. through local power sources, education.The next advisory committee meeting is Sept. 12.
