The Exchange Club of Falcon awarded two scholarships to students from School District 49’s Falcon Zone. Congratulations to our 2025-26 Scholarship Award winners. Iris Cantrell (Falcon High School) received the Accepting the Challenge of Excellence of the Year award. Isaac Domer (Falcon High School) received the Youth of the Year award.
From August 2025 through February 2026, we had monthly award winners from both schools. Students were nominated by school counselors and teachers. These monthly award winners competed for the annual awards; each winner received a plaque and a $1,000 scholarship toward their next educational adventure.
Isaac Domer also won a $1,000 scholarship at our Four Corners District Competition. He competed against other students in our district, which includes Exchange Clubs from Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Northern Nevada. It was exciting because we have never had a student from our club win at the district level in the 20 years of our existence.
Now, Isaac’s application is being forwarded to the National Exchange Club, where he will compete against other award winners from districts across the United States.
Guests at our second annual Murder Mystery Dinner Fundraiser had fun May 9 at Madera’s Grill and Cantina at Antler Creek Golf Club in Falcon.
Red Herring Productions staged the program; actors played out the murder investigation and challenged guests to determine the actual killer. We especially want to thank our sponsors: Stratus IQ; Premier Auto and RV Inc.; Christian Brothers Automotive; Farmers State Bank of Calhan, Ellicott, Falcon and Kiowa; and Madera’s Grill and Cantina. Their sponsorships helped make this event bigger than last year.
Funds from the event will be presented to some of our partnering agencies that work toward goals including child abuse prevention, community service, youth support and Americanism.
Another quarterly highway cleanup was completed May 16 on a 2-mile stretch of Falcon Highway. It was a beautiful day and brought out 21 volunteers — our biggest crowd ever. Participants included Boy Scout Troop 149, D 49 Falcon Zone, Space Force JROTC, volunteers from a new organization called Mountain Views Volunteer Association and, of course, the Exchange Club. More than 15 bags of trash were collected. Thanks to the El Paso County trash removal department for retrieving the bags.
