It all started from a boardroom meeting. The rest is history! Before heading out to New York, the choir was invited to sing at the State Capitol where they performed for Congress. Harriet Jarmon, the honor choir director, was presented an award by Congressman Michael Merrifield. This award is the first to be awarded to a school and educator for outstanding achievement in representing Colorado. The Falcon Elementary School Honor Choir then left Denver on March 19 and hit the road running once they landed at LaGuardia International Airport in New York City. After arriving in New York, the choir had two hours to check in at their hotel and prepare for the first three-hour rehearsal/workshop with internationally known clinician Henry Leck. The rest of the trip was spent working and singing, working and singing. There was a little sight seeing and the choir took time to see the Broadway show “Beauty and the Beast”!The FES choir performed with more than 200 students from around the country to a packed crowd. They all received standing ovations, flowers from parents and many other memorabilia. Thanks to all of you who helped make it possible for the FES Honor Choir! Our little town of Falcon has made history!
