FAIR meeting update

Ten area residents attended the FAIR (Falcon Area Issues Roundtable) meeting Aug. 14. The group provided input on a proposed FAIR mission statement presented at the meeting. A few changes to the existing statement were discussed, and a final statement will be presented at the next meeting. A representative from the Falcon/Peyton Planning Committee updated FAIR attendees on the committee’s progress. Information about the planning process is available online at www.hbaa.com/falcon-peyton-mp.Water issues were discussed, and a representative from Protect Our Wells addressed the group as well. The ongoing amount of both residential and commercial growth in Falcon is the main concern regarding the water issue. It was suggested that FAIR organizers invite Kathy Hare, president of the Upper Black Squirrel Groundwater Basin Board of Directors, to speak at a future FAIR meeting.The “odor” issue in Falcon, particularly the smell associated with the Meridian Ranch Golf Course area was discussed as well.The next meeting is Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 11 at the Falcon Fire Protection District main station in Falcon.Proposed FAIR mission statement:Falcon Area Issues Roundtable is a volunteer group of business owners and residents from Falcon, Colo. We meet regularly to discuss issues that affect the quality and future of our area. While we are not a legal authority for this community, we do serve as a resource and voice for the area represented by our group. Our primary focus is the education of Falcon area residents about issues pertinent to the quality and value of our lifestyles and residences. We have no affiliation with any particular political, religious or special interest organizations. We believe in the freedoms granted to us through the United States Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Colorado Constitution. We believe that encouraging open, honest communication with all viewpoints improves our community and our individual lives.
