Exchangite of the Year ñ Leonore Misner

Editorís note: We ran the following announcement in February but left out some important information, so we decided to run it again. Congratulations, Leonore.Leonore Misner has received the distinction of ìExchangite of the Year 2012î for dedicated service with the Exchange Club of Falcon. A charter member of the Falcon club, Leonore has assumed many responsibilities: secretary/treasurer; board member; editor for the clubís newsletter ìA View from the Prairieî; and historian ñ collecting all the data on events and fundraisers, as well as writing the clubís newspaper articles. For the past five years since the inception of the Falcon Craft Fair, proceeds have continually increased with 2012 being the largest: $6,000. The club donated the proceeds to High Plains Helping Hands and Godís Pantry of Ellicott. Misner has been heavily involved with and chaired the charity event, and she developed a procedural manual for the future chairperson. Misner currently chairs the Community Service Committee, and also continues as historian and story writer.Misnerís enthusiasm with Exchange prompted her to one of her biggest personal contributions. Working more than 400 hours, she created a queen-size embroidered and quilted Americanism picture quilt that was auctioned at the Exchange National Convention for $3,000 to help the National cause ñ child abuse prevention.An Indiana Hoosier, Misner attended Indiana University, studying under several art scholarships. Later, she received her Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Marketing and Business Management from the University of Alabama. Her work background includes 30-plus years in the banking business, including 10 years as a credit union CEO on the east coast.Misner and her husband, Dale, both moved to Colorado Springs to live near their two children and their families. Misner says that in retirement, ìGod and family are my No. 1 priorities.î In May, Misner graduated from Benet Hill Monastery in Black Forest, having completed a four-year Scripture Study Program of the entire Bible.She enjoys using her skills to help the Exchange Club realize their goals of child abuse prevention, recognition of our youth, help to the community and promotion of Americanism.
