The Exchange Club of Falcon hosted Sonya Bergeron from Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care as a guest speaker at a meeting earlier this year. Bergeron discussed the “pinning ceremonies” they do for veterans in hospice. As part of the pinning ceremony, the veteran receives a red, white and blue blanket. She said they are always looking for volunteers to make the blankets. Theresa Koveleski, a club member, reached out to friends who crochet and make blankets. EJ Harrington and Bonny Freeman Wesson stepped up and made blankets (crochet and fleece) for the veterans. Our club donated 15 blankets to Pikes Peak Hospice for the veterans. If there are any readers who would like to crochet or make these blankets, please let us know. We would also like to see if anyone might have some excess red, white and blue yarn/material to donate. If interested, please email exchangecluboffalcon@gmail.com.
Our Murder Mystery Dinner Fundraiser on Feb. 15 raised $2,600. We delivered checks to Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center, Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care, The Independence Center, Eastern Plains Community Pantry (Calhan) and the D 49 Falcon Zone Pantry. The recipients appreciated the donations. We plan on having another Murder Mystery Dinner Fundraiser in the spring of 2026.
SAVE THE DATE: The Exchange Club of Falcon is hosting an event in Falcon on July 26 at a Falcon school (to be determined). The “Eastern Plains Senior Resource Expo” will have agencies from El Paso County who provide various types of assistance and resources for the senior community in the Eastern Plains. We want to bring these agencies together so that our seniors and caregivers can gather information about the services they provide. We plan on having about 15 agencies attend. Lynne Bliss of the Falcon Senior Service group is assisting the Exchange Club of Falcon with this event. The Exchange Club will have food and drinks available. This is a free event for our community. Business sponsorships are welcome to help pay for some of the costs. For more information, contact Don at exchangecluboffalcon@gmail.com or call 719- 369-5158.
