The Exchange Club awarded Jim Payne the ìSenior of the Year 2014î award in January. Payne is a retired rock crusher operator; he crushed rocks into materials for road building, etc. commercially for 35 years and for the U.S. Army for five years.Rose Mizer, an Exchange Club member and the director of High Plains Helping Hands, touted Payneís enthusiasm for helping others. ìJim Payne is on the board and spends hours and hours volunteering at Helping Hands; heís fun to work with and a great story teller, what a gift he is to us.î Member Bob Miller commented on Payneís heartfelt dedication to community service. Payne has two children and a grandson. Jim Dunn, a long-time friend of Payneís, presented his award.
