Exchange Club

January Youth of the MonthLeah Petrie from Falcon High School received the January Youth of the Month award from the Falcon Exchange Club. As a freshman, Leah became a core leader with the Student-2-Student program, and her ideas for the group are now being used on a national level. Leah was chosen to meet with Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel at the Military Child Education Coalition National Training in Washington, D.C. She also spoke on a panel with the Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan.She is a member of the anti-bullying project, Purple Hands. Leah travels on mission trips with her church, and participates in the churchís Thanksgiving and Christmas projects. With all of her extracurricular activities, including four years of cross country and three years of track, Leah has maintained a 3.84 GPA. She will attend Colorado State University at Fort Collins this fall.National club honors local groupThe National Exchange Club, the oldest service organization in the country, will celebrate105 years March 11. Tracey Edwards, the National Exchange Club vice president; and Jim Addis, director of member development and events, visited the Falcon Exchange Club and paid tribute to its 10 years of service by awarding the club a Document of Resolution, which recognizes the club for exemplifying the best traditions of the organization.
