EMT basic offered at Falcon Fire Department

Penrose Emergency Medical Services Education, in conjunction with Pikes Peak Community College, will be conducting an EMT (emergency medical training) basic class at the Falcon Fire Department beginning Aug. 21.This class does not offer college credit, and, as such does not cost as much as normal EMT classes offered through Pikes Peak. Prior to participating in the clinical part of the course, students must provide shot records showing they have started a Hepatitis B series; they must have had two MMR vaccinations, a chicken pox or varicella vaccine and a TB skin test. They should have received all within 12 months of the clinical courses.Additionally, students must have Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Provider CPR prior to starting the clinical course. The class begins Aug. 21 and runs every Tuesday and Thursday evening through Nov. 17. Class times are 6 p.m. to 10. An occasional Saturday is scheduled as well. The Falcon Fire Department would like to remind everyone that EMT-B certification is a requirement when applying to the department as a volunteer. If you are interested in attending this EMT training, please contact Jeff Force, EMS program coordinator for Pikes Peak Community College, at (719) 502-3325. We look forward to seeing you there.
