The El Paso County Fair Queen Committee is seeking qualified candidates to serve as the 2009 El Paso County Fair queen. Eligible contestants must be El Paso County residents, single, never-married females between the ages of 18 and 22.Application packets are available at the El Paso County Fairgrounds office at 366 10th Street, Calhan, Colo., between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, www.elpasocountyfair.com, or request a packet by calling 719-520-7880.During her reign, the El Paso County Fair queen will be a visible representative for the county, not only at the fair but also other county events. The deadline is Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. All applications must be in the fair office by then. The queen contest will be held March 7 at 9 a.m. at the fairgrounds. The queen will be chosen based on judges’ points in four areas: horsemanship, submitted application, public speaking and a personal interview.
